My Favorite Looks and Trends from the Spring 2027 Shows
We’ve barely made it into fall, and I’m already thinking about spring. Such is the calendar of fashion—and my inability to resist a beautiful dress. I’ve been gathering my favorite runway looks, and seeing them all together makes my preferences fairly obvious: romantic fabrics, a little shimmer, beautiful tailoring, and something slightly undone. There’s plenty here that I would happily wear exactly as shown, along with a few things that would require a different life, a much fuller social calendar, and perhaps an invitation arriving by courier.
The lace was an immediate draw. Ivory blouses, sheer skirts, delicate slips, and dresses with the sort of intricate detail that makes you want to zoom in and study every inch. Some of my favorite pieces have an almost heirloom quality, reminiscent of antique lace or something discovered in a very good vintage shop. But the styling keeps them feeling fresh: a visible underlayer, a simple shoe, a jacket with a little structure. I particularly love the combination of a romantic blouse and fluid trousers. It feels feminine and grown-up, and I can imagine reaching for some version of it long after the season has passed.
There’s also a lovely tension between softness and structure throughout the looks I saved. A belted jacket that gives shape to an otherwise easy silhouette. A trench with generous sleeves and a shorter hem. Tweed with loose, fringed edges; a beautifully cut coat over something delicate. These are the combinations that make me want to get dressed. I like an outfit with a little contrast—a piece that feels composed alongside one that feels almost accidental. The tailoring gives all that lace and movement somewhere to land.
And then there’s the shine. The gold looks were impossible to scroll past, particularly the slinky skirt and the fluid, gleaming shirtdress. I’m equally drawn to the cooler silver embellishment, especially against sheer fabrics and pale shades of blue. There’s something wonderfully indulgent about wearing a little sparkle simply because you feel like it. A metallic skirt with a familiar blouse, an embellished slip under a jacket, a beautiful pair of earrings with your hair pulled back. I love the possibility of bringing some of that glamour into an ordinary evening.
The palette of my saved looks is mostly ivory, cream, black, champagne, and soft blue, with a few deeper tones mixed in. It leaves room to really notice the materials: satin that catches the light, airy fabric that moves away from the body, dimensional flowers, tassels, and wisps of fringe. Even the simplest silhouettes have something happening at the surface. The white dresses are especially tempting, from the light, gathered shapes to the more elaborate lace and floral pieces. Though I have to admit, the black dresses—with their draping, sheer panels, and beautiful necklines—make a very convincing case for dressing up after dark.
What I’m taking away from this collection of favorites is a renewed appetite for clothes with a little romance and occasion to them. I want a delicate ivory blouse, something gold, a jacket with a beautiful shape, and a dress that moves when I walk. I’ll happily spend the next few months in sweaters and suede, but there’s something lovely about having these images waiting in the wings. A little inspiration for warmer days—and a reminder to make plans worthy of a good outfit.
